The paper presents an analysis of a steady-state regime of shearing-cutting of rocks by PDC bits. It is shown that different types of rocks require different negative rake angle on the cutting edge of the bit, and negative rake angle should increase to the maximum (15-20\u00ba) if cutters are located closer to the center of the bit. Cutters\u2019 diameter should decrease (with equal extension of cutters) from the centre and out. Engineers may use the research findings in their design work and for the purposes of optimization of PDC bit cutting structures.<\/p>\n
