Production of shale oil and gas assume a greater importance now. In terms of research and development intensity and capital investments, the shale hydrocarbon production technology can be compared to outer space exploration programs. The obtained experience in the development of such fields clearly speaks to the economic viability and feasibility of horizontal drilling. Solutions depend on specific geological environments of reservoirs. These solutions should be individually tailored on the basis of industrial research and theoretical studies to meet the requirements of each region. Following the studies, researchers were able to provide hydrocarbon base drilling mud compositions and optimize drilling mud technologies which allowed to reduce chemicals consumption and mud mixing time and ensure high quality drilling of producing reservoirs. Isolation of the Bazhenov formations from the overlying and underlying beds whilst drilling is also important. This is due to high temperatures (above1000\u0421), sensible difference in pressures, fluctuations of \u201cwell-formation\u201d differential pressure during operation. Development of the Bazhenov formations calls for integrated solutions\u00a0 which\u00a0 involve drilling technology, reservoir delineation, evaluation of probable reserves, development methods and many other issues. There is a need for a consolidated center for coordination of these works and associated financing.<\/p>\n
