The paper is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of invention and introduction of a turbine drilling technique in the USSR. From a historical perspective, the paper considers the activities of the authors of domestic turbine drilling \u2013 M.A.Kapelyushnikov, P.P.Shumilov, R.A.Ioannesyan, E.I.Tagiev and M.T.Gusman. It shows the role of researchers and designers from VNIIBT, drill crews and oil industry managers in the development, manufacturing and introduction of turbodrills for oil and gas drilling in this country.<\/p>\n
