Today, there is more than one calculation model for the geometry of a hydraulic fracturing crack, which describes crack growth and pressure change with time. These models comprise a set of equations of elasticity, fluid filtration, material balance and stress-strain state of medium. The paper provides a review of 2D and 3D models as well as a modified pseudo 3D model of a hydraulic fracturing crack and an example of process optimization on the basis of the pseudo 3D model. A crack growth model, fluid filtration model and economic model are used for the optimization of the hydrofrac process. The crack growth model is adjusted in accordance with the type of fracturing fluid, proppant type, pumping schedule and volume.<\/p>\n
