The article considers questions of barite plugs development to eliminate gas leaking and absorptions in the process of well construction and workover operations. The results of laboratory studies of barite slurries with different rheological properties and solid content are presented. The research consisted in determination of barite pulp deposition rate and evaluation of barite plug quality formed in this tube. The result of the laboratory tests determined the optimal compositions of barium suspensions and outlined the effect of various additives on the barite deposition rate and on plug formation quality.<\/p>\n
