Prokhorenko \u2013 Ph.D. in Engineering, Head of Department<br \/>OAO NPO \u201cBurovaya Tekhnika\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Designing of a directional well profile is based on the use of circular arcs in deviated intervals.\u00a0 Difficulties associated with connecting of deviated and straight intervals of the profiles of deviated and horizontal wells at the design stage and during the actual implementation called for a new approach. The offered solutions suggest that the connecting curves differ in\u00a0 linear variation of curvature depending on the measured depth, and the general continuity of curvature allows to design profiles of directional and horizontal wells and sidetracks that match the natural behavior of a drill string or a casing in the deviated well. Besides, projected profiles\u00a0 provide for lesser borehole depth and lower bending stress while moving the drill string and the casing in the well.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>Key words: projected profile;
