CURRENT TECHNOLOGY OF COMBINATION DRILLING OF DIRECTIONAL WELLS USING A DOWNHOLE DRILLING MOTOR-DEFLECTOR.

The current technology of directional and horizontal well drilling makes integrated use of benefits provided by different well-path control techniques. The article focuses on the combination drilling method where well path is controlled through interchanging sliding and rotation modes in appropriate wellbore intervals. The author analyzes the behavior of BHA that includes a drill bit and a deflecting downhole drilling motor bearing centralizers. It is shown that the diameter and position of the centralizers determine performance of the deflecting BHA while rotating the drill string.
