Drilling of deeper exploration and production wells calls for a thorough approach to BHA selection for long vertical sections. In complex geological environments, conventional non-orientable BHAs (pendulum or multicentrator types) are not always good to ensure that a hole is vertical, therefore LLC “Gazprom Burenie” developed an advanced drilling technology program. The VeriTrak and Power V controlled rotor systems were successfully used in Astrakhan and Krasnodar regions to provide for trouble-free drilling, prevent hole crooking, increase penetration rate and ensure unhindered deep running of intermediate casings.
