A reasoned choice of high performance buffer material and further development of its applications may provide considerable improvement of the quality of borehole treatment prior to introducing the cement slurry in various geological environments. An elastic and viscous aerated sand and water slurry including surfactants and carboxymethy cellulose is offered to enhance the efficiency of the buffer solution. The high performance buffer material and high quality buffer solution are designed to provide absolute compatibility with drilling muds currently in use, including chemically modified muds and various cement slurries, which allows to prevent the formation of excessively thickened slurry (packs) on contact surfaces; to bind, physically and chemically, all air contained in the slurry without formation of stable foam and to prevent its aggregating and removal during intensive hydrodynamic activation of the slurry; to ensure low density of the slurry and prevent high hydrodynamic annular pressures. The cementless buffer solution with controlled density and low water loss meets all of the above requirements.
Key words: powder buffer, buffer solution, aerated buffer solution, solution density
