Due to challenging geological conditions and a variety of technical and economic parameters of drilling equipment, a consumer may find it difficult to choose the most effective drilling rig configuration to drill a specific prospect well. The author has introduced the notion of constructive-technological complexity as integrated parameter of an oil well and presented the principles of optimal choice of drilling rigs based on the minimum cost criteria.
