Key words: regulatory framework, oil and gas standards, continental shelf, harmonization of standards.
Analysis of the level of oil and gas standards harmonization shows that the ISO international standards for offshore oil production are largely based on the US’ API standards, certain DNV standards of Norway and international standardization principles. The author comments on the current international offshore drilling and production standards systems. It is noted that for harmonization of offshore oil and gas standards in the Russian Federation, an integrated approach is needed and consideration should be given to specific local offshore conditions.
