Key words: reworking of idle well, horizontal side hole, producing ability of well, payback period.
To facilitate a balanced well reworking decision, the paper provides the results of analysis of various technical recommendations to assess the effect that the length of horizontal intervals, formation thickness and other factors have on producing ability and flow rate of wells and sidetracking cost.
Economic feasibility study of the sidetracking takes into account the watercut data collected after a five-year production. Based on the existing system of estimation of actual well reworking costs, the initial cost recovery period and payback period have been identified.
