Key words: dynamic hardness, rock cutting, quantitative characteristics of rock destruction by means of PDC cutting-shearing tools.
The article focuses on analytical and practical issues of justification and development of a new scientific method to assess the properties and efficiency of dynamic fracture of rocks by means of modern PDC cutting-shearing tools (StratapaxTM).
Details are provided on standardization of the method with regard to the preparation and implementation of the experimental measurement process and data interpretation. Attention is given to the methods of organizing and implementing experimental measurements of efficiency of dynamic cutting of rocks by means of PDC tools.
The authors provide a scientific interpretation of experimental data including the most important performance data of PDC tools during rock cutting: dynamic hardness of rocks, quantitative criterion of assessment of rock cutting efficiency, geometry, dimensional features and location of diamond inserts in PDC bits.
