Key words: synthetic fiber, borehole cleaning, sealing of thin sands and microfractures, restoration of circulation, torque reduction and resistance of medium.
Today, drilling and workover of offshore and onshore oil and gas wells require new technologies and materials. It is especially evident after the ecological catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico that occurred on British Petroleum’s Deepwater Horizon platform on April 20, 2010. It is too early to comment conclusively on the extent of damage sustained to the ecosystems. However, experts estimate it at more than 5 billion dollars. Enormous costs will have to be incurred in the response to the unprecedented ecological disaster. There are 30 thousand active wells in the Gulf of Mexico now. Of course, the sudden blowout could have been caused by earth crust movements due to the activities of all producers in the area, but anyway, exploration, drilling and workover operations based on new solutions, technologies, equipment and materials need to be performed.
Norteks company provides products and materials for drilling and workover. LLC “Norteks” is an authorized dealer of Forta Corporation in the RF.
