Based on the analysis of global experience of oil and gas transportation, the paper provides a review of offshore hydrocarbons delivery schemes and identifies advantages and disadvantages of existing solutions. It is shown that in frozen water areas, pipeline transport may be far more efficient than tankers. However, the remoteness of the Russian offshore fields demands bigger investment and determines the necessity of regular transportation of oil by ice class tankers which need single mooring points.
