The author describes on a gyroscopic orientation device designed by CJSC “NT-KURS” for whipstock orientation while drilling directional wells. The device is also able to measure the whipstock orientation angle. The device is vibration resistant as uses a miniaturized iMEMS-sensor. The paper provides an analysis of the principles of operation of the gyroscopic whipstock orientation device and its performance.
