Вhe paper provides an overview of issues relating to process design of offshore field development. The issues include insufficient knowledge of the geology of Russian offshore fields, complexity of offshore field development solutions and low profitability of development projects. The authors believe that high rate wells are the key element in the efficiency of offshore fields development. They point to the necessity of drilling pilot wells of various designs to identify production opportunities in high pressure environment, extended reach wells, etc.
