Key words: hydrocarbon-based drilling mud, oil-base mud, bottomhole zone, productive formation.
The paper provides the results of using a new oil-base drilling mud. To mix the mud in field, standard equipment for ordinary drilling muds was used on the well site. It has been established that the Polyemulsan drilling mud has inhibiting and blocking properties, which allow to use it to prevent caving, especially whist drilling through chocolate clays, and to prevent loss of mud in formations with abnormal pore pressure.
