The paper provides details of the main phases of works to improve performance parameters of tapered thread connections of drill pipes, casings and tubing, based on the results of a large-scale field testing of static strength, fatigue and integrity. Emphasis is put on the new methods of calculation and designing of optimal tapered thread connections, based on the initial data including specified dimension, and analysis of strength and integrity of an actual connection depending on the various technical factors and operating conditions. The paper provides advanced technological solutions to improve performance capability of tapered thread connections.
