The paper provides a review of the method of computer-aided design and optimization of arbitrarily complex well profiles. The well profiling process is managed by a strictly structured input data sheet which includes profile master data, target points, variation limits of unknown parameters, geological, design and technological limitations. The selection of design solutions is based on the modified Box method for conditional search and special tools for profile selection and filtering. The process results in a profile of minimum length, provided that all pre-set limitations have been met.
