Key words: idle well stock, oil production loss, leaky interval in production string, expandable system, mechanic-hydraulic expansion.
Based on oil production data for 2014, the authors assessed oil production losses due to the idle well stock. It is shown that one of the key reasons for well conversion to idle well stock is leaky production strings in production wells. Production losses resulting from leaky production strings were assessed and a string insulation method was proposed which uses mechanical-hydraulic MaxWell expandable tubulars. The paper presents results of practical application of expandable systems in wells operated by TPP Povkhneftegaz and benefits of expandables for water zone isolation.
