Key words: well; drilling mud; inhibiting; fixing; operating time, borehole stability; anion-nonionic solution; polycationic mud.
The article provides results of using the Catburr polycationic mud while drilling a production well, No.1082, in the Astrakhanskoye gas and condensate field. High inhibiting and fixing properties of the Catburr polycationic mud system that was used to drill through suprasalt deposits helped increase penetration rate, improve the borehole condition and prevent sludge production.
Therefore, the use of polycationic mud systems allows to reduce drilling costs through the prevention of sludge formation and stabilization of the wellbore in unstable suprasalt clay deposits of the Astrakhanskoye gas and condensate field.
