Key words
: Russian continental shelf development, technical and technological problems, offshore operations, continental shelf of the Arctic and the Far East, Shtokman gas condensate field, hydrodynamic scheme, construction facilities, offshore oil and gas field engineering facilities, ice conditions, underwater/ under-ice operations.

This paper describes technical and technological issues to be resolved to develop continental shelf fields in the Arctic and Far East seas. Based on the example of the Shtokman gas condensate field, the impact of these issues on the further choice of technological offshore field elements, taking into account the influence of hydrometeorological, geographical, geological and other factors, is illustrated.
