Key words: Drill bit, PDC Bit, Hydbrid bit, improving the stability of PDC bits, reducing bit wear, bottom hole assembly, drilling efficiency.
This paper describes the main challenges encountered in Belarus when drilling with PDC bits, and the solutions delivered by the evolving bit design improvements and includes the introduction of hybrid bits with a higher penetration rate and, accordingly, associated cost savings. The paper also reveals the advantages of using Crush and ShearTM TM hybrid bits when drilling wells in the complex geological conditions of the Pripyat sag basin.
