Key words: drilling, brine, brine influx, managed pressure drilling, drilling techniques, types of drilling, drilling complication, losses.

Nowadays operators and rig contractors pay substantive awareness on the effectiveness and safety of operations. Meantime in the drilling industry almost every job comes along with hazards, which with the wrong line of approach might lead to unforeseen expenses and extensive non-productive time. Weatherford’s Managed Pressure Drilling services can help to enhance drilling effectiveness and ensure wellbore integrity with the help of advanced solutions, adapted to maintain wellbore stability throughout the wellbore.

This case study describes the approach taken during drilling 11-5/8” hole section through salt formation on the field X in West Kazakhstan Oblast (Region) where high intensity brine influx, and subsequent flow has been encountered.
