Key words: manage pressure drilling, candidate selection, hydraulics calculations, bottomhole pressure.
Following the expansion of the scope of application of the balanced drilling technology, there is a need for a method to assess the feasibility of using this technology as the main solution to reach the design well depth, mitigate contamination of formations, etc. The paper provides recommendations for how to identify pros and cons of balanced drilling, as well as limitations of this method.
