The paper provides an analysis of oil companies’ demand for marine facilities based on information in the public domain, including the number and types of fixed offshore platforms, floating drilling rigs and ships, as well as financial performance of major projects. The authors assess prospects for implementation of major investment projects that involve offshore
facilities construction. Provided materials include charts and diagrams borrowed from presentations of companies such as OJSC Gazprom, OJSC NK Rosneft, OJSC NK LUKOIL, JSC Sovkomflot, etc.,
which are considered in the paper, information from the public domain, extracts from speeches delivered by top managers and policy documents of relevant federal authorities.
