Applying new methods of DDM operation mode control, the Perm branch of VNIIBT developed effective well drilling technology the controlling factor of the working differential pressure across the motor, with the axial load turned to the collateral parameter, which plays the role of a limiting indicator only. Therefore, in order to provide successful drilling, it is sufficient to define only two parameters, namely torque and frequency of rotation of the bit. Knowing the energetic characteristics of the used DDM, the actual values of these parameters are easy to find.
This method is carried out by changing the feed speed of the tool so that the DDM operates in a mode in which the torque Mt on the bit is maintained at the level of the nominal value of Mt* for the selected motor. This requires that the value of the pressure P* is in a certain narrow range, at that, the axial load (G) can be changed in a sufficiently large range in accordance with changing geological conditions.
