Key words: adsorption, osmotic swelling, crystalline swelling, swelling pressure, cavern formation, Mondshine and Kercheville hypothesis, Chenevertt method, montmorillonite, Shubar-Kuduk, clay shale.
The article is devoted to improving the efficiency of completion and development of productive deposits in clay-bearing rocks. The article describes the mechanisms of water adsorption on clay particles, the processes of cavern formation. A special part of the work is devoted to the study of core material from the well number 3 Shubar-Kuduk. In conclusion, recommendations are given in the selection of drilling mud for the completion of clay shale.
