The paper presents the results of analysis of existing drilling models. The author notes that adaptive models are currently the most efficient to optimize the penetration process using data obtained while drilling. The significant difference between the real deep drilling models and experimental testbed drilling models lies in the process intensification due to the changes in drill bit behavior after is becomes unstable and makes contact with the borehole walls.
Key words – drilling parameters, weight on bit, speed of rotation, drilling model.
