The article provides an analysis and a summary of experience of horizontal drilling in the fields of Tatarstan. The first horizontal holes were drilled in 1976, and commercialization of horizontal drilling technologies started in 1991. Technology and navigational support for horizontal and multilateral drilling is provided by NP LLC “Horizont” that provides integrated maintenance to 120 wells annually. The article presents technical details and comments on the stages of horizontal drilling technology development in OJSC “Tatneft”.
