DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH PERFORMANCE PDC BITS FOR HARD FORMATIONS.
A.M. Gusman – Ph.D. in Engineering, Professor, Head of Department
A.A. Lyshenko – Junior Research Associate
OJSC NPO “Burovaya Tekhnika”
Further development of PDC-bit drilling technology will be steadily connected with the changing fracture modes and the application of new drill string and BHA control solutions. The authors propose a special design of a polycrystalline diamond bit, a stepped profile with a shorter front step. The conducted experiments and researches allowed to develop recommendations on optimization of the cutter design and the angle of cutter setting aimed at achieving higher bit performance.
The authors developed bottomhole assemblies that allow to eliminate instability of the drill string with the bit and to extend the scope of PDC application in different geological and technical conditions.
Key words: hard-allow diamond bits; digging angle; corrugated tool; differential pressure; unstable transverse oscillations.
