DRILLING DIAMOND BIT WITH PROTECTION OF CARBID NOZZLES

In our country and abroad, PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Cutters) drilling bits are in growing use for drilling deep oil and gas wells, due to the fact that performance of these bits in the destruction of rocks (from soft to hard slightly abrasive ones) is in large excess (up to tenfold and more) over the performance of traditional roller cone bits. Scope of application of PDC drill bits gradually increase and today constitute about 70% of the total scope of deep drilling in our country. Along with the obvious advantage of PDC drill bits that is achieving phenomenal durability of their rock cutting and gauge elements, this type of drill bits has a weakness, namely the possibility of a complete and compact clogging of bit jet nozzles by large particles of sludge, scraps of elastic coatings of saddles of the turbodrills or enclosure of stators of positive displacement motors. This deficiency significantly reduces the performance of PDC drill bits.
This article presents the results of research, development and application in drilling PDC drilling bits which does not have this deficiency.
