Key words: turbo-drill, drilling bit, twisting moment, mechanical drilling speed
The article provides the results of field tests of a redesigned 2ТSA-195 turbodrill equipped with a high-torque turbine. Based on standard turbine and shaft sections, the 2ТСА-195 turbo drill has a higher torque, rotation frequency, capacity and efficiency. It is designed for efficient performance of drill bits that require more mechanical power, namely: unsupported diamond bits with natural and artificial diamonds, impregnated diamond core bits, PDC bits. It is shown that the improved output performance of the 2ТSА-195 turbo drill allow to achieve a 1,7-fold increase of penetration rate of diamond bits in comparable drilling conditions. Moreover, the presence of two turbine sections in the 2ТSА-195 turbo drill instead of three sections used in standard turbo drills allows to reduce the park of turbine sections of a drilling (oilfield services) provider and reduce related maintenance costs.
